Welcome to The Cool Edit: Style Stories from l.a.cool’s VIPs, our new series that spotlights the brilliant, stylish, fascinating women who make up the l.a.cool community. Our VIPs are more than just well-dressed, they are women navigating real life with exceptional taste. We’re kicking things off with Kate, a former corporate retail buyer turned creative force, mom of three boys, and l.a.cool VIP who balances a packed schedule with effortless, thoughtful style. She splits her time between raising her family in Southern Ohio and creating sharp, scroll-worthy content across digital platforms.

Kate’s day starts early with school drop-offs and matcha lattes, then moves straight into creative work: editing, styling, or consulting — often during nap time. Her evenings? Soccer practices, early dinners, and, once the house quiets down, catching up on editing or watching a favorite show with her husband (currently The Long Way Round on AppleTV).

Even with a life this full, her wardrobe never feels thrown together. She calls her style “Casual, Colorful, and Polished,” and it’s that contrast, the polished meeting the everyday, that makes her wardrobe feel modern but totally her. She’s currently loving the fisherman aesthetic — styling prairie dresses back to barn jackets and boat shoes. And, if it nods to the sea, it’s probably in her cart!

Kate’s current closet MVP? Her Toteme Barn Jacket — the same one that stopped a Parisian Celine sales associate in her tracks (shop the Jacket here). She's gravitating toward brands that balance minimalism with ease: Toteme, Dôen, Gap, Agolde, and Alemaís are her current lineup. “I’ve really been leaning into more classic and straightforward pieces,” she says. “I think I hit boho so hard during my three pregnancies that now I want everything grounded back to denim.”

When it comes to shopping, Kate says l.a.cool has become her go-to because of the ease and attention to detail. “The personal shopping services are unprecedented. The team knows my sizing so well that if I see something I like on the site or on IG, I can just shoot off a message to have them try it on for me and determine what size they feel I’ll fit best in. The amount of major key moment outfits I’ve bought blindly through this process would be shocking to most people. We’ve got it down to a science.”

Favorite vacation spot?
Comporta Portugal needs to be on every person’s bucket list. It is absolutely stunning and very chill.

Go-to outfit for feeling confident?
Classic denim, button down, with a sweater over the shoulders or a chore jacket. Great canvas for going crazy on accessories - lots of layered necklaces, studded ballet flats, and bucket bag.

Designer splurge or vintage gem?
Designer splurge in clothes! Vintage gem in home decor!

Signature scent?
Lover by the Maker Hotel - you can find it now on Sephora and damn it’s SO GOOD

Closet you’d love to raid?
I’ve really been on a big Meredith Hayden of Wishbone Kitchen kick lately. Her cookbook came out in May and I was drooling over her simple yet elevated outfits as much as I was the food. She’s super cool and shared a mood board I made of items inspired by her book and it drove over 80K views to my stories. Her following is highly engaged. I’m not alone in my love of her ha!

Maxi dress or mini dress?
Maxi. Maxi skirts too.

Coffee or matcha?
Matcha latte all day every day

Beauty product you can’t live without?
Charlotte Tilbury Setting Spray. That spray literally keeps my makeup looking fresh allllll day which as a tired mom is extremely helpful otherwise all my concealer would be gone by 2pm.

Early riser or night owl?
Night owl. I’m always up too late reading books.
